Acoustic Solutions with MUTE+® board Wall Absorbers
Project Description
As part of its continuous growth, the Zurich University of Teacher Education (PH Zurich) has expanded into new premises at the Leutschentower on Leutschenbachstrasse in Oerlikon. Since September 2024, around 100 modern workspaces and a 500 m² Collaborative Learning Lab have been available to the university. The new spaces serve as a pilot environment for innovative higher education, digital leaning, and modern forms of work. The aim was to create a flexible, future-oriented educational setting – technically advaned, functional, and sustainable.
Acoustic Solutions with MUTE+® board Wall Absorbers
To enhance room acoustics in office and learning enviroments, Lindner supplied and installed MUTE+® board wall absorbers. Made of high-density, pure polyester, these absorbers are both dimensionally stable and exceptionally lightweight. Thanks to their strong sound-absorbing properties, they significantly improve room acoustics, creating an enviroment that supports focused learning and productive work.
Heated and Chilled Ceilings for Energy-Efficient Indoor Climate
Another core component of the fit-out was the installation of Plafotherm® DS Tabs 78 heated and chilled canopy ceilings. These thermally active metal canopy ceilings are directly connected to the activated exposed concrete ceiling, utilising the building mass as a thermal energy store. The system regulates room temperature efficiently by reflecting thermal radiation from the concrete core via the metal surface, while also improving acoustics.
The interior fit-out was completed with high-quality wooden doors that blend seamlessly into the contemporary design.
Sustainable Interior Fit-Out for Modern Educational Buildings
With the Leutschentower project, Lindner SE Opfikon branch has once again demonstrated its expertise in sustainable interior fit-out for educational facilities. By combining high-performance acoustic solutions, energy-efficient ceiling systems, and long-lasting door elements, Lindner has created a versatile and forward-looking learning and working environment that meets the demands of modern higher education.
