Modernisation of the Oberentfelden School Building - Refurbishment and Extension of the Upper Secondary School Building
Optimal Room Acoustics for Focussed Learning with Lindner MUTE+® board Sound Absorbers in The Special Colour Beige
Project description
As part of a comprehensive modernisation, the "blue" upper secondary school building in Oberentfelden, Switzerland, was fully refurbished and extended by two additional storeys within just eleven months. In addition to renovating the existing structure, the extension created modern learning spaces covering approximately 400 m². In total, 22 classrooms and 18 group rooms were realised. The new floors, constructed with concrete, wood, and steel elements, impress with their open, light-filled architecture.
A central aspect of the project was the creation of an interior design that promotes learning and meets high aesthetic standards. The Lindner Group made a significant contribution to this with a bespoke interior fit-out.
Optimal Room Acoustics for Concentrated Learning
To ensure an acoustically friendly learning environment, the teaching rooms were equipped with MUTE+® board S40-C sound absorbers in special colour Beige. These flexible acoustic elements noticeably reduce noise levels, thereby enhancing both pupils’ concentration and speech intelligibility during lessons.
Additional ceiling constructions were implemented using the LMD-E 200 system – a high-quality metal suspended ceiling with a natural white powder coating. This integrates discreetly into the overall architectural concept, giving the rooms a bright, timeless appearance. The perforated ceiling design further enhances the acoustic performance and contributes to sound absorption.
Transparent Interior Design
For room partitioning, the Lindner Life Stereo 125 system was used – a glass partition system that combines transparency with functional performance. It meets high standards in terms of sound insulation and fire protection while offering a visually open design. The use of Hydro Low-Carbon Aluminium in the wall profiles contributes to lower CO2 emissions of the building, underlining the commitment to sustainability and resource conservation.
Functional Door Systems
When it came to door solutions, functionality was combined with design. The ATB 100 aluminium framed door serves as a soundproof door, providing a robust and durable solution for high-traffic areas. It was complemented by the HTB 68 timber door, which adds warm, homely accents with its natural appearance while offering high durability. For preventive fire protection, the ATB ADS 80 FR 30 fire protection door was installed, which prevents the rapid spread of fire and smoke, ensuring effective protection.
