New Learning Environments in Bremerhaven: IPA, BIM, and MUTE+® in School Construction
Share
In Bremerhaven, three new schools and two sports halls were realised in just four years for approximately 1,750 pupils. The IPA project "3 Schools Bremerhaven" combines high-quality architecture, modern educational concepts, and digital construction processes.
Cluster Schools: learning flexibly, growing together
The new buildings are designed as cluster schools – with spacious classrooms, open learning areas, as well as music and creative rooms. Two sports halls complement the concept, creating space for physical activity and community.
Efficient implementation through IPA and digital construction planning
On-time delivery was achieved through Integrated Project Delivery (IPD): All partners were involved early and shared responsibility, opportunities, and risks. This reduced interfaces and effectively limited cost and schedule risks.
For planning and coordination, Lindner used BIM with a shared 3D model. Clashes were identified early, coordination was accelerated, and decisions were made more quickly. Lean methods and the digital planning tool Metronom additionally supported transparent, proactive construction scheduling.
Interior design: acoustics as the key to a good learning atmosphere
Here, Lindner focused on flexible, functional, and aesthetically high-quality solutions. In classrooms, open learning areas and corridors, LMD-E 200 hook-on ceilings as well as MUTE+® acoustic ceiling canopies and MUTE+® polyester baffle ceilings were used. These ceiling solutions not only improve acoustics but also create a modern, appealing interior design and are 100% recyclable.
Specifically, the project installed:
- 4,308 MUTE+® board baffles
- 1,549 MUTE+® board ceiling absorbers
This creates a learning environment where speech remains intelligible, concentration comes more easily, and rooms are not only functional but also atmospherically convincing.
